Praise for The Make-Right Man : A Chicago Reckoning
5-Stars | From Amazon | An Earnest Life
The Make-Right Man lays bare the arc of a man’s life of exacting shadowy justice in a two-square-mile Chicago working-class neighborhood. Both the characters and the neighborhood come alive through this author’s deft and clear-eyed full-sensory portrayal. Slowly evolving, going underground for a decade, coming back without apology or explanation and weaving seamlessly into the lives lived in Bridgeport, the characters and the City form a permanent bond with the reader based on truth and a deep unstated knowing. At 600 pages, I was sad when it was over. Immerse yourselves! — Liz Brown
5-Stars | From Amazon & Goodreads | Outstanding Character Novel
t's hard to believe this is a debut novel, as the writing and character development are so strong. Through the five sections of the book, you get to know the main characters, their motivations, and challenges. Reading this book made me feel like I had grown up in this part of Chicago myself! It didn't hurt seeing a few call outs to my own city, as the characters made a few trips up to Marquette University. Well done. You'll love this book! — Teege Mettille
5-Stars | From Amazon | Great Book, Page Turner!
This is a great book, hard to put down. I love character-driven stories and when you care about a character you want to know what's going to happen to them. You care, feel all the emotions for him. The author paints quite a picture of the city, the South side Bridgeport neighborhood. This is a place that stays with people obviously. — Joy C Rosario
5-Stars | From Goodreads | A Captivating Book With a Graceful Ending
This was a great read from a new author. Clearly, he grew up in a parochial school like I did. The way he described the nuns in the first part of the book in school just made me laugh and I could identify 100%. Quite a captivating book. Being set in Chicago, I could identify with all the settings and the neighborhood style. Loved the ending of the book. It was such a graceful way to end the story. I hope to see more books from this new author! — T.
5-Stars | From Amazon | Intriguing Read
I read “The Make-Right Man: A Chicago Reckoning” over the summer while traveling. It was intriguing from the start which made it interesting and easy to read, put down and pick up again when I had time. The characters were worthy of following to the end, with vivid and descriptive writing; I wanted more. The concept of making things right with a balance sheet that lead to results is something we as humans can relate to. We may wish to implement such a strategy in our own lives and for the revenge or outcomes that occurred in this novel. The Author’s writing style created realistic scenarios and characters that I could visualize in a movie on the big screen and certainly would read a sequel or another book, should they come next. I highly recommend this book as your next favorite read. — C. Bahl
